3. Please use any remaining time to ask any tech questions that you may have.

Second Hour:

We will continue the presentation of blogs by Members. Time permitting, last week’s presenters may present again – particularly if you have made changes or discoveries that you think will be of interest.

These presentations will also provide the opportunity for members to make suggestions to fellow bloggers on ways in which each person’s blog site may be enriched.

For a portion of the class, OLLI will take some photographs of members presenting their blogs. Please let us know if you do not want to be photographed.

Please do not forget to write a class evaluation - the form for which we will provide. We have been pioneers on the OLLI blog front! Your suggestions and concerns, as well as creative ideas for alternative and/or additional approaches and possibilities, will be most appreciated.

It is a delight to see us all with such a great diversity of blogs and interests. Who would have ever known!! I wish you all the best for the holidays – with all their various ordeals and pleasures!

Please feel free to stay in contact with me. In addition to blogging concerns, I am also available employment under my various other hats. If interested, contact me for either:
1. Editorial development support on your ongoing or emerging writing projects. I have 40 years background as a publisher.
2. Tutorials & workshops: Poetry, Essays, Memoirs. I have both published and taught in each of these genres. If you are stuck - either in developing an idea or in the writing itself, I can get you rolling!

My email remains: steph484@pacbell.net. Send your phone number, and I will give you a call.
Thanks again.

Tomorrow's Class - Friday, November 11

Tomorrow we will work to accomplish 4 things!

1. How to embed links on your site. (Nick Maffeis' note to Betty Traynor - below - is a helpful start!)

2. Explore Yahoo/Flickr as a way to store your digital images, as well as reflect and size those images on to your own blog.

3. If we have time, we will explore utilizing "sitemeter" on this site, as well as on your own site as a means to count the number and source of visitors. If you want to get a head start on this for your own blog, you may do the free sign-up & registration at: http://www.sitemeter.com

4. PLEASE take the opportunity to explore each other's blogs. As much as we have the time, I want to give people the opportunity to critique and support the development of each other's site.

If you have any questions, frustrations or concerns, please email me direct:

Embedding links on your blog site!

Hi Folks: Here is a very articulate note from Nick Maffei on the way you can embed links to other articles and images on your website. His note was directed to a question by Betty Traynor:

I created several types of links on my weblog at:
http://nmaffei.blogspot.com/

One is a photo of Bill Clinton that links to the Clinton Foundation Web
site. I first uploaded the clinton.jpg photo to a new posting, then
highlighted the photo and clicked on the insert link icon. This opened
up a dialogue box that allowed me to enter in the web address for the
Clinton Foundation.

The second link connected to the Clinton Presidential Library. Here I
just typed in the reference to the Clinton Library, then highlighted
the text and clicked on the insert link icon. This opened up a
dialogue box that allowed me to enter in the web address for the
Clinton Library.

This is what you should do.

1. Create a new posting
2. Type in the reference topic (e.g., The Labor Temple)
3. Highlight the text (e.g., The Labor Temple)
4. Click on the Insert Link Icon (the green chain)
5. Type or paste in the URL address of The Labor Temple document
6. Publish Post

Thanks, Nick.

By the way, it has been pleasureful to visit all of your blogs. Wonderful and various stuff is emerging.

Links and Comments

Hello Class Members:

1. I am working on the "Link" list! I had a small crash this morning, and have to go back and redo the inputs. Ah, the Blogger learning curve!

2. For Anton and others who want to limit "comments" to their blogs, go to Help for Blogger for advice on the various ways you can either limit - as we do here - comments to a "team":
http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=123

Or, where you can "moderate" in advance as to whether or not you want to accept a comment.

I sugges reading all of the "Help" in relationship to "comments", or other areas you want to explore.

Thanks,

Stephen Vincent
